Focus  •  Teamwork  •  Control  •  Balance  •  Memory

Discipline  •  Fitness  •  Coordination

Little Ninjas is designed to help kids build self-confidence, balance, co-ordination, discipline and courtesy, while learning self-defence skills. Our classes cater for children aged 3 years and up and focus on the development of life-skills such as positive mental attitude, goal setting, perseverance, self-control and confidence. Classes run for one hour and provide a warm, friendly and encouraging atmosphere to learn karate-based self-defence and anti-bullying techniques as well as fitness and games. We keep our classes non-competitive and focus on development & self-confidence over winning or losing, this way students continue to improve each week and only ever find themselves winning which bolsters self-esteem & confidence. At the end of term, we hold an awards session that not only measures progress but also encourages the children to set goals and teaches them skills of setting targets and working towards achieving them.

These skills will help your child with a more confident and enthusiastic outlook.

  • They will become more focused students at school

  • Better listeners at home and at school

  • More respectful of others and their peers

  • Improved social skills and interaction with others

  • Confidence to stand up to bullies

FOCUS

This skill will help the children’s aim, listening skills and reaction skills. They will excel faster in any physical activities. This skill will also improve the children’s listening and observation skills.

TEAMWORK

Teamwork is necessary for any young child to develop. The more confident the children are willing to work with others, the more they will accomplish. The children will develop character, which will help them make friends and become a better leader in life.

CONTROL

Having control means making good decisions. Whether the child is handling a pet or handling a problem, they will learn to make the right decisions. Control builds confidence.

BALANCE

This skill is crucial to develop at an early age. The children are beginning to participate in many physical activities that are challenging, like riding a two wheeled bike. The children will develop good balance and a better posture.

MEMORY

Developing a good memory is exercise for any child’s brain. The sooner the children exercises, the smarter he or she will become. Our drills are constantly helping children think and make smart decisions.

DISCIPLINE

Our instructors use the drills to help create the vision that discipline is fun and rewarding. The children will take pride in doing the right thing. The children will follow directions better.

FITNESS

It is important for children to understand the importance of being healthy and physically fit. If a child does not burn off excess energy exercising, how will he or she burn off all that energy?

COORDINATION

The children will learn left from right. They will become better physical participants in sport and activities. The better coordination the child has, the fewer injuries the children will sustain during play and family activities.

Little Ninjas has many techniques, moves, and mental skills that will help you be successful in a real-life self-defence situation. Our method is to develop the body and the spirit while acquiring skills and tools to defend yourself unarmed, we focus on mental strength and self-discipline, including devastating techniques aimed at the fastest possible neutralising of an aggressive opponent. All of our techniques are oriented towards success in an altercation.

The primary objective in self-defence is to avoid injuries and get away as fast as possible.

In a real life situation, you have ten or fifteen seconds, two or three punches and it’s all over. You want your techniques to be devastatingly powerful every time. If you ever have to defend yourself, you must be programmed to react instinctively, effectively and fast. The speed of a punch or kick greatly increases the impact power. Our techniques work just as well for the smaller, less powerful child because they use the body’s natural movement making the most of body weight and follow-through to achieve the required impact. Whatever your size, you will become fast and very powerful.

Let’s take a look at some effective techniques used by Little Ninjas:

Punches

Straight punch blitzes are good for real fights. Storming your opponent with crisp straight shots while advancing at great speed will surprise almost anyone.

Palm Strikes

Punching a skull as hard as you can with a bare hand will almost inevitably result in an injury to the hand. Palm strikes were invented for this very reason, and they are a safe and effective alternative to punches.

Elbows & Knees

The elbows and the knees are very hard and sharp bones and are the perfect weapons in close combat.

Groin Strike

There are no rules in real combat, and kicking the groin is a very effective tactic intended to paralyze your attacker with one strike.

Defence

We teach defence against choking, wrist grabs and hair grabs.

Effectiveness is directly linked to the way you train. The only way to really prepare for a real fight is to train against fully resisting and uncooperative partners and to train regularly. Only then will you develop the physical and mental qualities required to use the moves instinctively, effectively and fast when you most need them

Little Ninjas Code of Conduct

One of the most fundamental parts of Little Ninjas is building character through personal development,

this is why we put a lot of emphasis on our code of conduct.

As a Little Ninja I promise to obey this code of conduct at all times.

• I will always do my best and never give up.
• I will always respect the rights, dignity and worth of all instructors and participants regardless of ability, gender or cultural background.

• I will always display control and courtesy to all involved.

• I will ensure that my decisions and actions contribute to a safe and harassment-free environment.

• I will obey my parents and teachers.
• I will always tell the truth and honour my word.
• I will never misuse what I learn in class.

Little Ninjas & Bullying

Bullying is a serious issue with children as the affects can last for years after it stops, even throughout their adulthood. Learning self-defence is proven exceedingly beneficial to children who are recipients of bullying and to those children who are bullies.

Self-Defence helps a child who is bullied a number of ways. To begin with, most children who are bullied are shy and lack confidence. This makes them ‘easy targets'. As Little Ninjas nurtures a child’s self-esteem and builds their confidence, the bullying often stops through this process alone. Instructors also train children how to deal with bullying and encourage them to speak about it to their schoolteachers and parents. Of course, some children are too shy to speak with their parents about bullying. The good news here is because Little Ninjas deals with self-defence, children who are bullied often ask their instructor about how to deal with bullies. In this instance, the instructor can notify the parents of the child’s situation.

Some children who have had a tendency to bully other children may develop an interest in Self-Defence and fighting. Parents of these children may fear that the skills they learn will only make their bullying worse. Nothing could be further from the truth. To begin with, bullying and low self-esteem go hand-in-hand; so as Little Ninjas builds the child’s confidence and self-esteem, their interest in bullying others generally ceases. Secondly, being regularly reminded that their skills are ONLY to be used for self-defence and is something that can never be misused without risk of being suspended from training provides extra motivation to behave. Speaking with the instructor about the child’s habit helps the instructor to get the message across about the concerns with bullying.

While the predominant focus of Little Ninjas is to develop character, students also learn self-defence skills. Our instructors regularly promote that children MUST NOT misuse their fighting skills under any circumstances. Should any child misuse their skills (either at home or at school), we ask the parents to notify us of this so together we can speak with the child about their behaviour.
